Photographers research - Chuck Close

This photograph by Chuck Close is a daguerreotype, I really like how the photographs turn out in the end, they have a high contrast which shows the face incredibly detailed. Along with a small depth of field which keeps the focus on the facial features. The jewellery on the woman looks very pretty even though you can't see it in detail, it looks like lights on the woman's neck. Furthermore, I like how wild her hair is and the contrasted light makes it seem even more wild.
In addition, I like how the pupils of her eyes are really dark, especially next to her iris which is quite a bright looking tone.

This photograph has a very high contrast, some of his face is incredibly bright, but there are parts like his eyes that cast a shadow. It looks different from the previous image because there is a lot more contrast in these images than in the last photo. It gives an evil sort of connotation. In this type of lighting he doesn't look like a very welcoming person, which shows us how lighting in photographs can show different personalities. If the lighting was face on then he would look a lot more friendly.
This image has a much larger depth of field than some of the others, we can see the top and the neck in detail as well as the face.

This photograph is different from some of his others as the model isn't actually wearing any clothing, this shoot included photographs of the models body as well as her face. I really like this image because she isn't wearing any makeup and she looks very natural. There's a lot of natural shine on her face which looks very bright. This is back to his usual photography, he has used a very small depth of field.
The woman's hair is out of focus which is typical to his normal style which I really like, however it can be difficult to recreate this style.
This kind of small depth of field is difficult to recreate using my camera as it doesn't focus on such a small area, I would have to edit the photographs on photoshop after taking them to create this effect.

I like this photograph of Brad Pitt because it has quite high contrast, the photograph is in very sharp focus at the front, with very soft focus at the back of the head, this means the audience tends to focus on the subjects face. I like how the eyes are really bright in his photographs, they attract the attention of the people looking at them as they are so bright. The rest of the image has quite dull colours as it is mostly grey, however the lights are a bright white colour which is quite bright in contrast to the rest of the image
